Evan Cooper is a poet, writer & yogi.

Born under the sign of Aquarius, Evan has been a seeker, soul-searcher, deep-thinker, and creative since birth.

A pioneer in the field of teaching yoga to kids & teens in the early 2000s, Evan published her first book, Um, Like…OM: A Girl Goddess’s Guide to Yoga (Little, Brown & Co.) in 2005. It is a chronicle of her experience teaching yoga to tween and teen girls as well as a manual for healthy ways to handle just about anything life throws at you. Yoga studios from New York City, NY to Sydney, Australia continue to use the book as a fun, user-friendly teaching guide for teens.

Today, in addition to teaching meditation, Evan is focused on her work as a writer of her own poetry and prose as well as copy for brands, businesses, and personal projects.

Evan’s work has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, The Boston Herald, Parents Magazine, among others.

Of all of her creative endeavors, Evan considers her greatest achievement to be the birth of her daughter: Emerson, named after the great 19c. American transcendentalist essayist and philosopher, Ralph Waldo Emerson.
